Redmi K100 Tipped to Feature 100W Fast Charging, Gets 3C Certification

A new Xiaomi 5G phone, identified by its model number M786BC, has received 3C certification in China, according to a report by Gizmochina. The certification, issued on October 12, confirms that this device supports 100W fast charging.

Tipster Digital Chat Station suggests this certified phone is the standard Redmi K100. This is the first concrete sign that the base model of the Redmi K100 series, which has been hinted at for months, is moving closer to release.

100W Charging Confirmed, What Else is Known?

The 3C certification specifically covers charging capabilities and model details, so it doesn't reveal much else about the phone's full specifications. However, the 100W fast charging is a significant detail, especially for a standard model.

For context, Xiaomi launched the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max in China on August 11. Both of those higher-end phones already support 100W wired charging. If the certification details hold, the standard Redmi K100 would match its Pro siblings on charging speed, which is an impressive feature for its segment.

Redmi K100 Series: Value Proposition and Potential Chipsets

Wei Siqi, general manager of Xiaomi’s China marketing department, had previously outlined the full Redmi K100 series portfolio at the K100 Pro launch event. Besides the K100 Pro Max and K100 Pro, he mentioned a standard version and a gaming flagship would also be part of the lineup.

Lu Weibing, Xiaomi Group partner and president, who also leads the mobile phone division, has publicly stated that the Redmi K100 series will definitely be "the best value." He added that many flagship phones this year are using chipsets from the previous generation, such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and the Dimensity 9500. This suggests we might see one of these powerful, yet slightly older, chipsets in the K100 lineup, potentially including the standard model, to deliver on that value promise for Indian buyers.

What's Still Unknown for Indian Buyers

While the 3C certification is a positive development, it's specific to China. Xiaomi has not yet shared any official launch date, pricing, or full specifications for the standard Redmi K100. There's also no word on the separate "gaming flagship" model mentioned earlier.

For Indian consumers, it's important to remember that not all Redmi K-series phones launch in India, or they might arrive under different branding. We'll have to wait for more certifications and leaks, perhaps even a BIS listing, to know if and when the Redmi K100 might make its way to the Indian market and at what price point.
