A new POCO smartphone, reportedly named the POCO X8s, has been spotted on Singapore's IMDA certification database and the Geekbench benchmarking platform. These early listings reveal several key specifications, hinting at a potential expansion of the POCO X8 series.

According to The Tech Outlook, the device carries the model number '2609CPC5FG'. Its IMDA listing confirms support for essential connectivity features including 5G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC. While the IMDA database did not explicitly mention the phone's name, the same model number reportedly appeared on the GSMA database earlier, where it was tipped to be the upcoming POCO X8s.

The Geekbench 7.0.0 listing for the Android AArch64 device provides more insight into its performance capabilities. The alleged POCO X8s achieved a single-core score of 972 points and a multi-core score of 3,297 points.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and Android 16

The benchmark listing also confirmed the processor, identifying it as Qualcomm's ‘SM7750’ chip. This is believed to be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, a chipset expected to power mid-range to upper mid-range devices. The configuration mentioned includes one core clocked at 2.80GHz, four cores at 2.40GHz, and three cores at 1.84GHz, with a base frequency of 1.84GHz.

For Indian buyers, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip usually points to a phone that can handle daily tasks smoothly, including demanding games, without breaking the bank. The inclusion of 5G support is also crucial for connectivity across India's rapidly expanding networks.

Beyond the processor, the Geekbench listing also revealed the device will run on Android 16 right out of the box. This is a significant detail, indicating that the phone will offer the very latest Android experience when it launches, along with potentially long-term software support. The RAM capacity was noted as 11.14GB, which typically translates to a 12GB RAM model being available.

What the POCO X8s Means for India

The POCO X8 series already includes four models, namely the standard, Pro, Power, and Pro Max variants. An 's' model often signifies a refreshed version or a slightly different positioning within an existing lineup. For users in India, a 12GB RAM variant is a popular configuration, often sought after for robust multitasking and improved app performance.

It is important to remember that these are unconfirmed leaks and certification sightings. Details like official pricing, full specifications, and an exact launch timeline for the Indian market are not available yet. The Tech Outlook also mentioned another model number, ‘M583CF’, which was reported to be a rebranded counterpart for the Chinese market under the Redmi brand.

As the device has now appeared on both certification and benchmark databases, it suggests that an official announcement or more details could be just weeks away. Those looking for a new smartphone with a strong mid-range chip and the latest Android version might want to keep an eye on POCO's upcoming moves.
