Poco X8s Moniker Confirmed, But India Launch May Be Skipped

The Poco X8s moniker has been officially confirmed through a new certification listing in Thailand. The device, bearing model number 2609CPC5FG, recently received approval from Thailand's NBTC, adding to the growing speculation around its debut.

This NBTC approval follows earlier appearances of the Poco X8s on multiple international certification platforms, including Europe's EEC, IECEE, and Singapore's IMDA. While these listings confirm the device's existence and hint at an upcoming launch, they typically do not reveal detailed specifications.

For Indian readers, an important detail to note is that the Poco X8s reportedly may skip India. According to an earlier report by XimiTime, the smartphone could launch in several international markets, including the European Economic Area, Turkey, and Russia, but is not expected to be released in India. The Chinese version is reportedly associated with the model number M583CF.

Despite the potential absence from the Indian market, leaked specifications provide a glimpse into what the phone might offer. A Geekbench listing previously attributed to the device reportedly indicated it could feature a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, paired with a generous 12GB of RAM. It's also tipped to run on Android 16, which would be current or very recent by the time of its launch.

If these reported details prove accurate, the Poco X8s would position itself in the upper mid-range segment. A recent Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series processor, combined with ample RAM, typically promises strong performance for everyday tasks and gaming, making it a competitive option in its intended markets.

Regarding its camera capabilities, the same report also points to a 50-megapixel primary rear camera. However, specific details about the display, battery capacity, charging speeds, any additional cameras, and pricing for the Poco X8s still remain unknown. The NBTC certification, while confirming the device's identity, does not independently verify these rumoured specifications.

With a series of certifications now reportedly in place, the Poco X8s appears to be moving closer to its official unveiling. Even if it doesn't make its way to India, it's worth watching how Poco positions this device in other markets, especially with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and Android 16 combination.
