POCO X8s, Redmi Pad 3 4G Clear NBTC, Global Launch Near

Xiaomi's POCO X8s smartphone and Redmi Pad 3 4G tablet have officially received certification from Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). This development, as reported by My Mobile India, strongly suggests that both devices are nearing their global debut.

The NBTC approval follows earlier appearances on other regulatory databases like Singapore's IMDA and Geekbench, indicating that Xiaomi is completing the necessary steps before launching these new products.

POCO X8s: What We Know So Far

The POCO X8s, identified by model number 2609CPC5FG, is positioned as a performance-focused smartphone. According to My Mobile India, it's expected to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC, paired with a generous 12GB RAM variant. Geekbench listings for the device reportedly show a single-core score of 972 and a multi-core score of 3,297.

On paper, the POCO X8s looks set to offer a large 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive 3500 nits peak brightness. Powering this is an expected 8340 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery that supports 67W HyperCharge and 22.5W wired reverse charging. Camera-wise, we're looking at a 50 MP main sensor with OIS, a 2 MP depth camera, and a 16 MP front camera.

Connectivity options are comprehensive, including Dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and an IR Blaster. It's also expected to run on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 out of the box. However, the report from My Mobile India suggests the POCO X8s may not initially launch in India, though Xiaomi hasn't made any official announcements regarding regional availability.

Redmi Pad 3 4G: A Budget-Friendly Tablet for India?

Alongside the POCO X8s smartphone, Xiaomi is also preparing the Redmi Pad 3 4G, identified by model number 26104RPF2G. This tablet is expected to target the budget-to-mid-tier segment, and importantly for Indian users, it's tipped to launch in India starting around ₹16,990.

The "4G" in its name isn't just for show. The NBTC listing confirms cellular data capabilities with 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE network support, including VoLTE. This means Xiaomi is likely to offer a dedicated cellular-enabled model in addition to Wi-Fi-only variants, which is a big plus for users who need connectivity on the go.

Expected specifications for the Redmi Pad 3 4G include an 11-inch IPS LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1600 x 2560 pixels resolution. It could feature up to 8GB RAM with storage options up to 256GB, expandable via microSD up to 2TB. An 8 MP camera is expected on both the front and rear.

Battery capacity is tipped to be a substantial ~10,000 mAh (rated ~9,820 mAh) with 33W fast charging support. Audio is also a focus, with quad or dual stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack mentioned. The tablet is also expected to have an IP52 rating for dust and splash resistance, and run on Xiaomi's HyperOS based on Android.

What This Means for Indian Buyers

While the POCO X8s's India launch remains uncertain, the Redmi Pad 3 4G could be a compelling option for Indian consumers looking for an affordable tablet with cellular connectivity. At an expected starting price of ₹16,990, it could compete well against other entry-to-mid-range tablets currently on sale in India, especially with its 120Hz display and large battery.

Many budget tablets in India often lack dedicated 4G LTE, forcing users to rely on Wi-Fi or phone hotspots. The Redmi Pad 3 4G's inclusion of 4G LTE and VoLTE could make it a versatile choice for students and professionals alike. If these specifications and pricing hold, it could offer good value for money.

Xiaomi has not yet announced official launch dates for either device. However, their appearance on multiple certification databases suggests an announcement could be just weeks away. We'll be watching for official confirmation on specs, pricing, and particularly, India availability.
