Intel Nova Lake Processors Tipped for Simpler Core Ultra 4000 Naming

Intel's next generation of Nova Lake processors might simplify its branding, with all chips potentially falling under the Core Ultra 4000 series. This information comes from hardware leaker Jaykihn, as reported by GLITCHED. This shift could make it much easier for Indian consumers to navigate Intel's upcoming CPU lineup for both desktops and laptops.

A Unified Naming Scheme for Nova Lake

Jaykihn had earlier suggested a split, with Core Ultra 4000 names for desktop and high-performance laptops, and Core Ultra 400 for mainstream mobile chips. However, in an update on October 16, the leaker clarified that even H-series and other Nova Lake mobile processors would use four-digit model numbers. When directly asked if the entire Nova Lake family would use Core Ultra 4000, Jaykihn confirmed, "For Nova Lake, yes."

This proposed revision points to a more straightforward approach than initially thought. For Indian buyers, a unified naming scheme across desktop and various laptop segments would be a welcome change, potentially reducing confusion when comparing different models.

Leaked Desktop Processors and Gaming Focus

Some specific desktop processor names have already surfaced in leaks, according to GLITCHED. These include the Intel Core Ultra 9 4970K BFC, Intel Core Ultra 9 4950K, and Intel Core Ultra 7 4870K BFC. The leaked desktop lineup is reportedly set to offer chips with up to 28 cores.

What's particularly interesting for gamers in India is the "BFC" suffix. This is believed to indicate Intel's big last-level cache, or bLLC. This additional cache is expected to significantly improve gaming performance. On paper, this could provide Intel with a stronger answer to AMD's popular Ryzen X3D processors, which have gained traction in the gaming segment in India thanks to their 3D V-Cache technology.

While HX laptop chips are also said to use four-number naming, the source indicates that specific four-digit model names for mainstream laptop processors haven't surfaced yet, beyond the general claim that they will follow the Core Ultra 4000 convention.

What This Means for Indian Buyers

Nova Lake is expected to be Intel's next major processor generation, following its current Core Ultra lineup. The reported desktop specifications suggest a blend of performance cores, efficiency cores, and low-power efficiency cores in higher-end models. For Indian PC builders and laptop buyers, the prospect of enhanced gaming performance from Intel is definitely something to watch, especially as it directly competes with AMD's offerings.

The actual performance difference, particularly with the bLLC, remains unknown until independent testing becomes available. The current reports point towards an early 2027 launch for Nova Lake. However, it's crucial to remember that Intel has not officially confirmed this launch date, nor has it revealed final specifications or pricing. These details remain unofficial for now.
