Apple could be preparing to launch a range of updated Mac and iPad devices later this month, including a long-rumoured MacBook Pro with a touchscreen, according to reports. Mashable India, citing a report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, indicates Apple has invited selected media representatives to an in-person product showcase in Los Angeles on October 28.

The most significant change tipped is for the MacBook Pro lineup. Reports suggest redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch models could feature OLED touchscreens. This would be a major shift for Apple, which has historically avoided touch displays on its laptops, unlike many premium Windows alternatives already available in India.

OLED Touchscreens and M5 Chips for MacBook Pro

These new OLED panels are expected to replace the current mini-LED displays, promising stronger contrast and deeper blacks. The touch controls would reportedly complement the traditional keyboard and trackpad, not replace them. On the performance front, the redesigned laptops might use M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, though the exact timing and specifications for these chips remain uncertain.

For Indian buyers, a touchscreen MacBook Pro would finally bring Apple's high-end laptops in line with a feature common in many premium Windows machines from brands like HP and Dell. This could offer a more versatile user experience for those who appreciate direct interaction with the screen, especially for creative work or casual browsing.

M6 iMac and iPad mini OLED Also Tipped

Beyond the potential touchscreen MacBook Pro, Apple is also reportedly preparing to refresh its 24-inch iMac with the next-generation M6 chip. This desktop update could bring additional colour options and performance improvements. However, it's not yet clear if these M6 devices will launch alongside the rumoured OLED MacBook Pro or at a later date.

The iPad mini is also in line for a significant hardware update. Leaks suggest it could feature an OLED display and Apple's rumoured A20 Pro chip. Other possible enhancements include a landscape-oriented front camera, redesigned speakers, and improved water resistance. An OLED display on the iPad mini would offer a stunning visual upgrade, making content consumption even more immersive for users in India.

Software Updates and What's Confirmed for India

On the software side, Apple may release iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, and macOS 27.2 during October. These updates could expand Siri's AI language support, but neither the specific features nor the release schedule has been officially confirmed.

While many of these potential announcements remain speculative, Apple has confirmed some key products. The iPhone Duo will become available in India on October 23, with pre-orders having begun at 5:30 PM on October 16. The company has also announced a 512GB unified memory configuration for the Mac Studio, which is expected to be available by the end of October.

The OLED MacBook Pro, M6-powered MacBook Pro and iMac, and OLED iPad mini are all still unconfirmed reports. Apple could reveal more products around October 27, just ahead of its reported media showcase on October 28, but the final lineup and availability dates are still uncertain. Indian customers interested in these potentially transformative Apple devices will need to wait for official confirmation from the company.
