The POCO X8s has appeared on multiple certification sites, reportedly packing a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip. However, the device is tipped to skip the Indian market, focusing on other regions.
POCO appears to be preparing a new addition to its X series, with a smartphone tipped to launch as the POCO X8s. It has recently surfaced on multiple certification platforms, according to a report by 91Mobiles.
The most interesting detail for tech enthusiasts is the reported inclusion of a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. A Geekbench listing from August offered an early glimpse at the hardware, also pointing to 12GB of RAM and Android 16. The device carries the model number 2609CPC5FG and has been spotted on Singapore's IMDA, Europe's EEC, and IECEE certification databases.
While the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is a promising chip for the mid-range segment, Indian buyers might not get to experience it in the X8s. XimiTime, cited by 91Mobiles, suggests the POCO X8s is headed for select markets outside India, specifically Europe, Turkey, Russia, and China. An Indian launch is reportedly off the table.
This means if you're an Indian consumer looking for a phone with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, you'll need to consider other options already available or expected here. This chipset powers devices like the OPPO Reno 16, Vivo V80, Motorola Edge 70, Realme 16 Pro+, and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro. These phones offer varied experiences, so comparing their camera capabilities, battery life, and overall software support will be key.
The POCO X8s, on paper, would represent a significant performance bump over the POCO X8 5G, which is currently sold in India starting at Rs 26,999. The X8 5G uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and features a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It also packs an 8,340mAh battery with 67W charging. If the X8s offered similar features with the upgraded chip, it would be quite a package, but it seems we won't find out.
POCO has yet to officially confirm the existence of the X8s, and full specifications, launch dates, or pricing details remain unannounced. The certification listings themselves don't reveal additional hardware specifics beyond the chipset and RAM. Until POCO makes an official statement, Indian buyers considering a phone in this segment should evaluate the existing Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 options based on their specific needs and budget.
