Google Gemini AI Plus Subscribers Losing Pro Models Next Month

Google has begun informing its Gemini AI Plus subscribers that access to the more advanced Pro models will be removed from their plan starting November 13, 2026. This means users on the $4.99 (roughly ₹415) monthly plan will soon only have access to the Flash-Lite and Flash AI models.

This change was initially announced by Google earlier this month, coinciding with the launch of its new high-performance Argon model. While Argon is now included for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers, the AI Plus tier is seeing a downgrade, losing access to the Pro models entirely.

What Changes for Gemini AI Plus Users

According to reports from 9to5Google, based on user accounts on Reddit, Google has started sending emails detailing these upcoming changes. The email confirms that from November 13, 2026, the ability to select Pro models in both the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search will be exclusive to Google AI Pro subscribers and above.

AI Plus subscribers will still have access to the Flash-Lite model, which is also available on the free Gemini plan, and the Flash model. The email also mentions that previous chats conducted using the Pro model can still be continued, but with a different, less capable model.

The Growing Gap Between Tiers

Previously, the $4.99/month AI Plus plan offered access to more capable models than just Flash, making it a seemingly good value for users wanting more than basic chat functionalities. However, with Pro models moving exclusively to the higher tiers, there's now a much larger performance gap.

The next step up, the $19.99/month tier, will now include the new Argon model, significantly differentiating it from the AI Plus plan. For Indian users, this means a substantial jump in monthly cost if they wish to retain or gain access to Google's most advanced AI capabilities.

Google will continue to offer a free Gemini plan, which provides access to the Flash-Lite model. While Gemini subscriptions also tie into Google Workspace for cloud storage and other perks like YouTube Premium, the core AI model access is what's changing for AI Plus subscribers.

This adjustment could prompt current AI Plus subscribers to either consider upgrading to the much more expensive AI Pro tier or evaluate if the Flash and Flash-Lite models meet their needs, especially for tasks that previously benefited from the Pro models.
