The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, a new laptop featuring the Intel Core Ultra 5 322 processor and billed as a 'Next-Gen AI PC', has surfaced on Amazon India with a price tag of ₹73,990, as reported by Desidime. This listing gives us a first look at what could be a compelling option for Indian consumers looking for a mid-range AI-capable machine.
Intel Core Ultra 5 322: The 'Next-Gen AI PC' Difference
The standout feature of this IdeaPad Slim 3 is undoubtedly its Intel Core Ultra 5 322 processor. This is part of Intel's 'Ultra' series, which includes a dedicated Neural Processing Unit, or NPU. On paper, this NPU is designed to accelerate AI workloads directly on the device, rather than relying solely on cloud processing. For users in India, this could mean smoother performance for AI-powered features in creative apps, enhanced video conferencing, and potentially better battery efficiency during AI tasks, as the NPU is more power-efficient than the CPU or GPU for such operations.
While the exact performance metrics for the Core Ultra 5 322 are not detailed in the listing, its positioning as a 'Next-Gen AI PC' suggests it aims to deliver a more responsive experience for the growing number of AI-integrated applications.
Key Specifications and Design Details
Beyond the processor, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 (model 83UR009QIN) comes equipped with a solid set of specifications for its price point. It features 16GB of RAM, which is ample for most multitasking scenarios, alongside a speedy 512GB SSD for storage. This combination should ensure quick boot times and fast application loading.
The display is a 15.3-inch WUXGA IPS panel, which typically offers good viewing angles and decent colour reproduction. WUXGA resolution (1920x1200 pixels) provides a slightly taller aspect ratio than traditional Full HD, which can be beneficial for productivity tasks. The laptop weighs in at 1.6Kg and comes in a Grey finish, making it reasonably portable for a 15-inch device.
Pricing and India Market Positioning
The ₹73,990 price tag positions the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 squarely in the competitive mid-range laptop segment in India. The Desidime listing also shows a striking '59% off' from an original price of ₹1,80,690, a common practice for online deals that often inflate the perceived discount from an unrealistic MRP.
Considering the actual selling price of ₹73,990, the IdeaPad Slim 3 offers a modern Intel Core Ultra processor with dedicated AI capabilities, along with good memory and storage, and a large IPS display. For Indian buyers, this price point usually pits it against other laptops offering either older generation high-end processors or newer mid-range chips without a dedicated NPU. If the AI performance and overall build quality hold up, this could be a strong contender.
What's Still Unknown
While the core specifications are clear, some details remain unconfirmed from the listing. We do not have information on the battery capacity or expected battery life, the array of ports available, webcam resolution, or specific details about the build materials beyond its 1.6Kg weight. These factors can significantly influence a buying decision for consumers.
Overall, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 looks like a promising entrant into India's growing 'AI PC' market. Its value will depend on a complete picture of its features and real-world performance, but on paper, it presents a compelling package at its listed price for those keen on experiencing on-device AI capabilities.
