iQOO has confirmed its new gaming smartphone, the iQOO Neo 12, will launch in China on October 28, 2026. While it packs a powerful new Snapdragon chip, its availability for Indian buyers remains unconfirmed.
iQOO has confirmed the launch of its gaming-centric smartphone, the iQOO Neo 12, in China on October 28, 2026. Sales for the device are set to begin shortly after the launch event, which is scheduled for 4:30 pm IST (7 pm China time) on that day, according to Livemint.
The new handset brings several enhancements over its predecessor, the iQOO Neo 11, focusing heavily on gaming performance. However, for Indian consumers, the news comes with a caveat: an India launch for the Neo 12 is still unconfirmed.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a Dedicated Gaming Chip
Under the hood, the iQOO Neo 12 will feature Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This powerful chipset will be paired with a dedicated Snapdragon Q3 gaming chip from iQOO itself, suggesting a strong focus on high-performance mobile gaming.
The display is also built for gamers, with a 2K OLED panel from Visionox that boasts an impressive 185Hz refresh rate. iQOO states it offers a maximum brightness of 2200 nits in high-brightness mode and can go down to a minimum of 1 nit. The company claims the phone can support 2K games up to 185 frames per second in over 50 titles.
Keeping things cool during intense gaming sessions is crucial, and the Neo 12 addresses this with an integrated fan and iQOO's Ice Dome active cooling system. Other confirmed features include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and a 5,000 Hz touch sampling rate, which should offer a highly responsive user experience.
While some key hardware specs are out, battery size and charging details have not been officially confirmed by iQOO. Livemint's report, however, mentions the handset reportedly features a 100W wired charging rate and a 9,000mAh battery, though this remains unverified.
Distinct Design and Colour Options
iQOO has also revealed the Neo 12's design ahead of its China launch. The phone sports a sleek metal body with exhaust vents along the right side, a clear nod to its gaming focus and active cooling system. The rear panel features a large, rounded-square camera module.
This module houses two vertically stacked camera lenses and is branded with ‘Monster Inside’ along with a round grille for the integrated cooling fan. The company has collaborated with the China Academy of Art on the phone's design.
The iQOO Neo 12 will be available in three colour options: Contest, Shadow Black, and Frost Blade Blue. The Contest variant features a textured rear panel, while the Shadow Black and Frost Blade Blue offer darker and pale blue finishes, respectively.
What This Means for Indian Buyers
The biggest question for Indian tech enthusiasts is whether the iQOO Neo 12 will come to India. As of now, an India launch remains unconfirmed by iQOO.
It's worth noting that the iQOO Neo 11 did not debut in India. This means the iQOO Neo 10 is currently the newest addition to the Indian iQOO Neo lineup. A tipster has claimed the new phone is coming to India, but iQOO has not publicly shared any plans for the Indian market.
Livemint also reported that the smartphone may be offered in select markets under the iQOO 16R brand, potentially with the same specifications. Given the uncertainty, Indian buyers interested in a powerful gaming smartphone might need to consider existing options available here or wait for an official announcement from iQOO regarding its India strategy.
