Grand Theft Auto 6 for PC could launch by March 2027, according to industry sources. This timeline suggests a significantly shorter wait for PC gamers compared to previous Rockstar titles.
Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) might arrive on PC by March 2027, just a few months after its scheduled console debut. This news comes via GamesBeat, which cited four anonymous industry sources familiar with Rockstar Games' plans.
Currently, GTA 6 is set to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. If the tipped PC timeline holds true, it would mean PC players could get their hands on the highly anticipated title within the first quarter of 2027, specifically between January and March.
This potential shorter wait period, if it holds true, would certainly be a welcome change for PC players in India and globally. Historically, Rockstar Games has made PC gamers wait much longer. For instance, GTA 5 launched on consoles in September 2013 but didn't come to PC until April 2015, a gap of 19 months. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 had about a one-year wait after its 2018 console release.
A release window of two to four months for GTA 6 PC would be a significant shift in strategy. For many Indian gamers who primarily play on PC and might not want to invest in a new console solely for one game, this would be great news.
The PC version is also crucial for the franchise's extensive modding and role-playing communities. Rockstar Games acquired CFX.re, the team behind the popular GTA 5 role-playing framework FiveM, in August 2023. While the company hasn't detailed what modding tools or user-generated content features GTA 6 will support, a faster PC release could get these communities into the game much sooner.
It's important to remember that this PC release timeline is a tip, and Rockstar Games has not yet made any official announcement regarding a PC version date. The developer has already adjusted the game's overall launch date once, pushing it back from 2025 to November 19, 2026.
In related news, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy reportedly told Bloomberg in a separate interview that the next GTA Online, the multiplayer component of GTA 6, could arrive in 2027. Again, Rockstar has not officially confirmed a release date for the game's multiplayer mode either.
So, while PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players have a confirmed launch date, PC users will need to keep an eye out for an official word from Rockstar Games regarding their turn.
